European markets rally on US, German consumer confidence
(ANSA) – Rome, November 27 – European benchmark indexes closed positive on Wednesday as consumer confidence rose unexpectedly in the US and hit a six-year high in Germany.
Unfazed by a Senate vote that ejected ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi, Italy’s FTSE-Mib index added 0.8% to end the trading day at 18,924 points. In Frankfurt, the DAX index rose by 0.66% to end at 9,351.13 points while in Madrid, the Ibex-35 index added 0.97% to close at 9.808.40 points.
The Paris CAC-40 index advanced by 0.36% to end at 4,293.06 points and London closed up 0.2%, with the FTSE-100 index reaching 6,649.47 points.
