Tax-office chief arrested in Pesaro

Tax-office chief arrested in Pesaro (ANSA) – Pesaro, October 18 – The chief inspector of an inland-revenue office in the Marche city of Pesaro was arrested Friday on suspicion of taking bribes from a furniture-making company.

Police said Piero Micheli was paid to turn a blind eye to 50-60 million euros in dodged taxes.

Seven other people have been placed under investigation including two tax-agency staff.
